SUSPECTED DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE
PARENTS, GUARDIANS AND VOLUNTEERS
Policy statement
Little Rockets is committed to providing a safe, healthy and effective child care facility. All parents should be aware of the risks associated with drugs and alcohol misuse.
Procedures
If a parent, guardian or volunteer is suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, we hold the right not to allow that person to take the child / children out of Little Rockets.
We will make contact with the next suitable person on the contact list.
If no other person is contactable, Little Rockets will then inform the appropriate outside agencies.
An incident form will be completed and kept on record.
If a parent, guardian or volunteer is suspected of drug or alcohol abuse and are in possession of vehicle keys, we will ask for the keys. If they are not handed over then the appropriate agency will be informed and the child / children will not be allowed out of Little Rockets care.
If it is a recurring situation then Little Rockets will inform the appropriate outside agencies.
All parents, guardians and volunteers are not permitted to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs whilst on the premises of Little Rockets.
Any person suspected of drug or alcohol abuse will be asked to leave the premises, escorted by the appropriate agencies if necessary.
Not all drugs or substances that can be misused are illegal or obtained illegally. Many ordinary office or household substances can intoxicate e.g. glues, solvents etc. This policy covers all intoxicating substances, not just those that are illegal.
