October  Newsletter

Hello:

This first term has really flown by and I can’t believe we are now looking forward to bonfire night and Christmas 😊!!! All the children have settled in well this term and lots of new friendships have been made.

Halloween dressing up days:

This year we would like to invite the children who attend on Friday’s to wear fancy dress to nursery on Friday 25th October as we will be playing games and having fun on the last day of term. if your child attends during the half term week we would like to invite them to dress up on Thursday 31st October for Halloween, the children will be making cakes and playing and exploring pumpkins together during the day. If your child does not attend on either of those days but would like to come in dressed up during the week on any day they usually attend, we would love to see their outfits. Remember nothing too SCARY though as we don’t want to scare Trev and make him cry!!!!  However……if your child does make Trev cry then we are willing to turn a blind eye.

Children in Need:

As in previous years we would like to support this charity and this year on Friday 15th November we would like to invite your child to come to nursery wearing their pyjamas in return for a donation to this amazing charity. We will also be holding a cake sale and the children will be making cakes to sell on Friday 15th November. We would love to have donations of cakes if there are any keen bakers out there – or shop brought to sell on the day. Trev has very kindly offered to taste test the goodies before selling them on to the families at Little Rockets. There appears to be no end to his selflessness!  We hope you will all join in the fun and help us raise money for Children in Need.

Term dates:

For all children who attend term time only, we close for the October half term on Friday 25th October  2019 and re open on Monday 4th November.  For children who attend all year round, we will remain open as usual throughout the half term week. We close on Friday 20th December for all the children for our Christmas break and we  reopen on Monday 6th January 2020.

Photos:

Tempest photography will be coming to the nursery on Friday 22nd November  to take individual photographs of the children. If your child does not normally attend on a Friday but you would like their photo taken please pop in between 9.30-11.00 am. These photos make fantastic Christmas gifts 😊.

Facebook

Little Rockets has a Facebook page, if you haven’t already found us on Facebook and liked our page please do as we post regular updates and nursery news on there.

Air Ambulance Crisp packet collections:

We will be continuing to collect the children’s crisp packets from lunch time and recycling them to raise funds for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance. We would love to receive your empty crisp packet donations from home too!!  For full details of the scheme please visit: aakss.org.uk/crisppacketrecycling. This is such a good cause wotsits close to our hearts.

Uniform:

If you would like to purchase uniform for your little ones, then it is available to order from My Clothing at www.myclothing.com

Spare clothes and toilet training:

Please can we ask that you bring a bag containing spare clothes to nursery each day as the children do at times get messy and wet from the sensory activities they take part in. If your child is toilet training please remember to provide plenty of spare clothes, socks and shoes too!! Although we regularly encourage children to go to the toilet, as you know, accidents do sometimes happen!!  If you are given clothes from the nursery, please can they be washed and returned as soon as possible as we are now running out of clothes for the children at nursery.

Labelling belongings:

We have a large number of children attending nursery during the week, please therefore, can we request that you label all of your child’s belongings including: lunch boxes, water bottles, changing bag and coats etc. This is so that the staff are able to find your children’s belongings whilst they are at nursery.

Mobile phones

In order to safeguard the children in our care we would like to remind you that the use of mobile phones is not permitted inside the nursery including the corridors.
